Participants will learn how to create, edit, and manage content within AEM Guides, leveraging tools and features that streamline content development and ensure consistency. The course will cover everything from basic navigation to advanced authoring techniques, making it ideal for those who are familiar with standard word processing tools like Microsoft Word but new to structured authoring in the AEM Guides environment.

The course will cover essential topics such as deploying AEM Guides modules, configuring key components, managing users and security, and optimizing system performance. Participants will participate in discussions about AEM Guides, and explore ideas on how to tailor the system to meet their organization's specific needs and ensure smooth operations.
Participants should have a solid working familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Word or Adobe FrameMaker. No prior knowledge of DITA is required, but a basic understanding of XML and structured content authoring will be beneficial. The course is ideal for new authors or those transitioning to DITA-based content management systems.

Session 1: Introduction to DITA and Core Concepts: Learn about the DITA standard, its history, and its importance in the industry. The session also covers the core concepts of DITA, focusing on topics, their types, and the fundamental elements that make up DITA content. Participants will gain a foundational understanding necessary for the following sessions.
Session 2: DITA Elements, Attributes, and Values: Explore the technical aspects of DITA, focusing on the elements, attributes, and values that form the building blocks of DITA content. Participants will explore the common elements used within DITA topics, particularly within body, conbody, refbody, and task structures. The session also covers inline elements and their roles in enhancing content clarity and functionality.
Session 3: Advanced DITA Structures: Participants will explore more complex DITA structures in this session, including maps, bookmaps, and reltables. These structures are crucial for organizing and managing large sets of content. The session also introduces supporting attributes for reuse, highlighting how they enable efficient content management and dynamic content delivery.
Session 4: DITA "Value Add" Features: Explore advanced features of DITA that provide significant value to organizations, such as topic and map level metadata, content reuse, key management, and conditional publishing. Participants will learn how to implement these features in their DITA content to maximize efficiency and effectiveness. The session also covers strategies for managing content variants and versions .
Participants should have a basic understanding of document authoring tools, such as Microsoft Word or Adobe FrameMaker, and general concepts of content management systems. No prior experience with DITA or AEM Guides is required.

Session 1: About Adobe Experience Manager Guides + Manage Content: Introduction to AEM Guides, its benefits, key features, and essential content management concepts.
Session 2: Author Content: Create and preview topics, and author content using AEM Guides. Discuss use of desktop tools.
Session 3: Work with the Web Editor: Launch the Web Editor, edit topics, explore Web Editor features, shortcuts, and different views.
Session 4: Work with the Map Editor: Create maps, explore both basic and advanced map editing features, and additional Map Editor functionalities.
Session 5: Review Topics or Maps + Manage Metadata: Review topics or maps, manage review tasks, and work with metadata including tagging and smart tagging.
Session 6: Output Generation: Generate output with various presets and profiling, create and manage baselines, and bulk activation.
Session 7: Translate Content + Generate Output of FrameMaker Documents: Best practices for translation, view translation status, and FrameMaker document output.
Session 8: Reports + Review + Q&A: Generate and analyze various reports, review key concepts, and address any remaining questions.
Participants should be experienced with the basics of system administrator for Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and be familiar with content management systems (CMS) and digital asset management (DAM). They should have skills in managing content across multiple platforms, using cloud-based tools, automating workflows, ensuring content security, and integrating AEM with other Adobe and third-party products. Basic coding knowledge is useful but not required, as AEM supports low-code and no-code setups. Familiarity with managing digital assets, user roles, and system security is essential.
